Maintaining Automotive Brakes
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008Disc brake systems on automobiles have many metal to metal contacts which need to remain free moving through all of the very high-to-low heat cycles. Obviously, we are NOT talking about putting ANYTHING onto the contact surfaces between the brake pads and the rotors! Rather putting anti-seize compounds onto the metal to metal contacts where the pad retainers float and make contact on the caliper. There are several general styles of disc brake systems and there are differences in each automotive brand as well. The Precision Shot, #GLAS Anti-Seize compound is a great material for these applications.
Warning Repeat: Do not put anything on the rotor surface that touches the brake pads!
